I had first heard about Tangerine when it was originally released in 2015. However to my shame, I never stopped to check it out. I only wish I had, because what a wonderful piece of cinema this is.
Sin-Dee (Kitana Kiki Rodriguez) has discovered that the love of her life, Chester (James Ransone) has been cheating on her. Sin-Dee embarks on a mission, with her friend Alexandra (Mya Taylor) in tow, to find Chester and ask him why.

What amazed me was discovering that the whole movie was filmed on an iPhone 5S….yep…an iPhone. To look at this movie, and it’s atmospheric sun soaked evenings, you definitely wouldn’t guess that it was an iPhone used to film it. It just oozes quality and looks amazing on Blu Ray. The transfer is fantastic and enhances an already brilliant movie.

The performances are raw and really pull you in. It’s that realism and authenticity that makes you care for these people and their stories. James Ransone has been in plenty of movies, but I really feel he shines in this. Everyone of the characters has needs and dreams, sometimes at the detriment of one another.

This is a stellar release from Second Sight, and you can tell they care about film, not just as a medium, but how it’s presented to the collector. A fantastic release. Tangerine Limited Edition Blu Ray is available to purchase now.
